Please join artist and educator Michelle Antonisse on Monday, April 27, from 2pm-3:30pm for a workshop via Zoom. Spend your afternoon getting to know one single flower. We will slow down to plant-speed, look closely, breathe deeply and learn together. Each participant is asked to “bring” a flower to the workshop, so that, as a group, we can see the intersecting and differing structures of these magnificent beings. We will look at botanical diagrams and drawings, and find where our own flowers fit in. We will pay attention to our flower’s use of color, scent, form and structure, and investigate how the flower has evolved to survive and even thrive over time. The hope is, once we have looked so closely at one flower, your curiosity may be ignited to meet many more, to slow down, to look closely at the nonhumans surrounding us. This practice is a survival technique for building community and curiosity for these strange times.
