Working with the Associate Director for Public Engagement and related committees, the Director of Programs creates and implements a range of public and school programs that support the mission of SBTHP and provide access to the historic properties managed by the organization. Oversees recruitment and training of volunteers to support programs and creates related program curriculum materials. Supervises program staff and related volunteers. Works as part of a team managed by the Associate Director for Public Engagement to support all aspects of the public experience at SBTHP’s historic properties.
Salary: $28-$33/hr

Develops, coordinates, implements, evaluates, and promotes art exhibitions designed for a broad range of visitors to the Museum with the aim of increasing campus, art community, and general public engagement with the Museum and its mission.
Typical Duties
Conceptualizes, develops, and implements new and original art exhibitions for the Museum, including from the permanent collection and from art objects on loan from other institutions.
Develops didactic materials for exhibitions, including wall text, labels, gallery guides, and other content.
Collaborates with Museum staff on the development of new art-related educational programs, including assistance with research and grant writing.
Assists with the planning and implementation of guest-curated exhibitions and related projects.
Develops and reviews published content related to exhibitions for accuracy and effective promotion of the Museum.
Coordinates and oversees the work of museum staff in relation to exhibitions.
Participates in planning meetings regarding the permanent collection, exhibition planning, museum strategic planning, fundraising, and other exhibition-related matters.
Salary: $82,240.08 - $101,881.08/year

The Norton Simon Museum seeks a part-time Education and Public Programs Assistant to join its small but dynamic Education and Public Programs Department. The position provides administrative and planning support, including assisting with a range of weekend events such as adult art and education classes, programs for children and youth, and lectures and concerts held in our theater. The position also works directly with the public, Museum educators, and the artists, musicians and speakers contracted to lead programs at the Museum. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in museum work and the visual arts. Prior experience in event planning or public programming is preferred.
Qualifications
B.A. degree in art history, art education, museum studies, humanities, or a related field is required
Experience in planning live music events and public programs
Strong ability to collaborate and follow direction
Positive attitude with a proactive approach
Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and creativity
One year of office experience is preferred
Experience working within a museum, cultural, or educational setting is preferred
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Strong computer skills are essential
Responsibilities
Assist with lectures, concerts, adult drawing classes, dance performances, Evening in Focus events, and children’s art-making programs
Assists with rentals and logistics for events
Assists with logistics for lectures, including day-of assistance, and managing hotel bookings and reimbursement
Takes initiative with musical programs, including conducting research, contacting artists and day-of assistance
Updates database with upcoming events, processes purchase orders and check requests
Updates the Public Programs calendar
Liaises with Theater Technicians for events
Assists the Education and Public Programs Coordinator with answering the Education phone line
Prepare signs and other graphic materials for events, as needed
Performs additional duties or special projects, as assigned
Salary: $21/hr *

What We Are Looking For
The Armory is seeking an Evaluation Associate for our Programs department. The Evaluation Associate works closely with the VP of Programs and all the Directors (Studio, Schools, Offsite Community & Exhibitions) to coordinate, collect and organize visitor data for evaluations of education and exhibition programs. The Evaluation Associate works a variable schedule, based on project needs, up to 29 hours a week.
This Evaluation Associate will support Armory Arts-Inspired Youth Program Assessment (INSPO), a grant-funded project, structured over four distinct phases. INSPO project results include new insights into ways to capture youth experiences in the arts; rigorous and nuanced teacher assessment of student performance, which can be used to refine programs that serve historically overlooked communities in our region; an enhanced capacity to measure social emotional learning outcomes; and improved visitor experiences. Success will be measured by greater empowerment for youth who participate in the evaluation in a more joyful and creative experience, giving diverse participants agency in their storytelling. We will also measure the fluency of program staff and teaching artists as they increase their understanding of foundational elements of traditional program evaluation alongside non-traditional arts based evaluation.
The ideal candidate has the following skills:
Responsibilities for this part-time position include, but are not limited to:
Invite, encourage, and recruit Armory visitors and students to participate in evaluation studies, offering incentives when appropriate.
Interact with Armory visitors and students to collect data both independently, and as part of an Evaluation Team.
Administer both traditional surveys on either tablets or paper, keeping detailed logs of survey activities and encouraging visitors and students to participate in non-traditional, creative evaluation strategies.
Flexibility and curiosity to consider non-traditional evaluation tools and methods.
Pilot, implement, and give feedback on evaluation instruments, including surveys, creative evaluation strategies and interview protocols.
Data management; organize and manage all collected data.
Data analysis; analyze traditional and non-traditional data.
Reporting; present data internally to Armory staff and other stakeholders.
This part-time position has the following requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or at least two years of equivalent training or experience.
Experience with or coursework related to methods of social science research. Graduate-level coursework is desirable.
One or more years of experience interacting with visitors or customers in public spaces, informal learning spaces, or with participants in research studies, either as paid staff or as a volunteer, or similar experience.
Experience conducting in-person interviews, in one-on-one or group settings.
Experience engaging participants for research studies or similar outreach activities in another setting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Fluency with Excel or Google Sheets.
Excellent listening, observation, and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
A positive and professional attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to quickly troubleshoot and adapt to unexpected circumstances in the course of performing job duties.
Strong interest in visual arts.
Availability to work weekends and during traditional school holidays.
Fluency in Spanish is desirable.
Compensation
$25/hour up to 29 hours per week. This part-time position is hybrid, grant-funded through August 31, 2026.

The Managing Director of Education for the Courage Museum & Education Center
About The Courage Museum & Education Center
The the Courage Museum, located in San Francisco, is an immersive experience for both virtual and in-person museum goers to move through installations that integrate science, empathy, and activism to tell the story of possibilities where courage can fuel their own actions to advance positive change in the world. Museum goers will explore the science and biology of violence, discrimination, and trauma; the transformational impact of empathy; and the everyday actions we can all take to prevent and recover from experiences with hate and violence.
The Opportunity
As the Managing Director of Education for the Courage Museum & Education Center, this individual will lead the creation and expansion of the museum’s education and engagement programs for high school students, educators, parents, and administrators.

The ideal candidate is a former high school leader, K-12 network-level administrator, or education nonprofit leader whose work has directly been in service of high school students. The candidate should also have significant fundraising experience, capable of engaging diverse stakeholders, including education leaders and funders.
Salary: $190,000/annually
