Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate engaging, culturally responsive educational programs for PreK–12 students both onsite and in the field
Adapt curriculum and tools based on audience needs and current research
Collaborate on designing and evaluating short- and long-term educational initiatives
Supervise and mentor interns, volunteers, and program assistants
Coordinate logistics for educational events and maintain accurate participant data
Represent the Aquarium at community and professional events
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in education, natural science, or a related field — or equivalent experience
3+ years facilitating programs with PK–12 audiences
Experience creating inclusive, student-centered learning environments
Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
Familiarity with technology-based education tools (Google Suite, iPads, web-based platforms)
Preferred Skills:
Teaching credential or formal education certification
Fluent in Spanish (spoken and written)
Experience with integrated STEAM instruction and educator training
Knowledge of Monterey Bay's natural history and marine ecosystems
Ability to support students in water-based activities (snorkeling, tide pooling, etc.)

The Skirball Cultural Center seeks a Director of Gallery Learning to oversee a collaborative team that develops and facilitates participatory, affective learning experiences for young people and adults focused on Jewish culture and history, immigration, and Civil Rights. Reporting to the Vice President of Education and Family Programs, this year-round, full-time position is part of the leadership team of the Education Department. The schedule includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
The Skirball presents Jewish stories as American experiences to build a sense of shared humanity and strengthen a society where diverse views can be shared respectfully. The organization presents joyful, and sometimes challenging, content in age-appropriate ways to build empathy as an antidote to hate. Programs primarily take place in Skirball galleries, including Visions and Values: Jewish Life from Antiquity to America, Noah’s Ark, and changing exhibitions.
Pay rate: $85,000/yr
Responsibilities:
Leadership: Oversee all aspects of gallery teaching and learning for young people and adults at the Skirball through our in-demand school programs and robust offering of public and private docent-led tours. Identify and codify interpretation strategies that engage visitors of all ages in inquiry-based, experiential learning. Refine and deepen the pedagogy and set the culture around teaching and learning. This position oversees a team of managers, content specialists, and coordinators.
Curriculum Development: Oversee the design and development of tour outlines and talking points, educational materials, lesson plans, and activities that help achieve Skirball priorities.
Hiring and Training: In collaboration with managers and content specialists, recruit and coach approx. 10 educators and 50+docents on effective, age-appropriate interpretation strategies. Plan a regular schedule of classes and workshops featuring guest speakers and scholars on Jewish culture and history, anti-bias education, and arts education.
Evaluation and Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and make improvements based on educator and visitor feedback and data. Work with the team to keep statistical information on programs and document compelling evidence to demonstrate impact.
Community Engagement: Build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders at schools, community organizations, and other cultural institutions to deepen the Skirball’s impact.
Future Planning: Play a key role in envisioning the future of gallery learning at the Skirball based on research into best practices in museum education and community building. Opening in spring 2029, a re-envisioned core exhibition will grow and expand audience reach and engage visitors more deeply with the Skirball’s Jewish roots.
Qualifications, Experiences, and Attributes:
5+ years in a related position with increasing responsibility, including management of strategic planning, budget, and supervision of employees
Strong managerial and interpersonal skills; proven ability to guide and inspire teams of educators and docents
Depth of knowledge about Jewish culture, history, and traditions and/or experience teaching Jewish Inclusion Education
Excellent communication skills; warm and welcoming manner and ability to engage positively with people of different ages, abilities, communities, and workstyles
Strong attention to detail, ability to solve problems with flexibility in a changing environment and demonstrated effectiveness cultivating teamwork to achieve goals
Personal resonance with the Skirball’s mission; ability to convey it to visitors and guide employees in doing so
Proven ability to exercise good judgment, take initiative, and manage a changing and varied workload
Ability to work long hours that require physical agility (kneeling, crouching, lifting, sitting on floor, etc.) and sustained energy
Preferred: Master’s degree in art history, history, museum education, museum studies, or a related field

Our Mission
The J. Paul Getty Museum seeks to inspire curiosity about, and enjoyment and understanding of, the visual arts by collecting, conserving, exhibiting, and interpreting works of art of outstanding quality and historical importance and is one of four programs of the J. Paul Getty Trust. The Museum operates two sites, the Getty Villa in Malibu, which exhibits its collection of Greek and Roman antiquities, and the Getty Center in Brentwood, which displays its collections of European art: Medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts, paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, drawings to 1900, and photography to the present day (including non-European works). The Museum mounts approximately 25 temporary exhibitions a year across its two sites; maintains an annual permanent gallery improvement program and offers wide-ranging and ambitious programming for its visitors.
The Opportunity
The Education Department of the J. Paul Getty Museum seeks an Associate Education Specialist for K12 Teacher Programs to support Getty Education’s broad slate of K12 teacher programs and projects. Reporting to the Senior Education Specialist, K12 Teacher Programs, the Associate Education Specialist for K12 Teacher Programs will have broad knowledge of museum education best practices, teaching, pedagogy and K12 content development, and commitment to diversity, equity, access, and inclusion principles for audience engagement. Under moderate direction, the Associate Education Specialist for K12 Teacher Programs will implement and manage K12 teacher programs and projects to foster engaging and creative experiences with art, such as in-person and virtual professional development programs and events; digital learning resources for teachers and students; and teacher wellness programming. The successful candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert on K12 teacher programming, arts integration, project-based learning, teacher professional development, and 21st-century skill building. They will also be knowledgeable about strategies that maximize inclusiveness of programming and outreach to engage diverse K12 audiences including Title I schools, and in both in-person and remote classroom settings.
Major Job Responsibilities
With moderate oversight, this position is responsible for implementing and managing K12 teacher programs and projects to foster inclusive, engaging, and creative experiences with art, such as in-person and virtual professional development programs and events; digital learning resources for teachers and students; and teacher wellness programming at both the Getty Center and Getty Villa sites.
Works toward the accomplishment of program goals and objectives using museum engagement strategies and culturally relevant teaching strategies to meet the needs of K12 teachers. Also serves as a strategic thought partner in the development of strategies to accomplish these goals and objectives.
Collaborates on the planning and creation of content for curriculum resources, promotional materials, and other program/project materials.
Uses project management strategies and proactive communication skills to develop, implement, and assess programs, and coordinate all aspects of programs and projects such as tracking budgets, coordinating program and project logistics on-site and online, managing project schedules, and maintaining materials inventories.
Contributes to Getty’s marketing strategy as it relates to K12 teachers and administrators.
Develops relationships, communicates, and collaborates with internal and external experts, including teachers, K12 school administrators, museum educators, and content experts such as curators.
Teaches with the collection and serves as a resource for teaching staff.
Serves as lead facilitator and teacher at teacher professional development programs.
Negotiates, contracts and liaises with external experts and teachers, providing direction and monitoring of external vendors according to established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
Provides leadership to project staff and/or work group members.
Serves on collaborative project teams to advise and develop current and future Education Department initiatives.

The Los Angeles Conservancy’s Education programs teach students and adults to see beyond the traditional concept of “landmarks” to understand neighborhoods and buildings in a context that emphasizes the role of history, culture, and community. The Education Intern assists with the Conservancy’s Student and Family Programs and upcoming efforts related to community-focused tours in different neighborhoods across the County. Interns with a strong interest in education, history, cultural and historical preservation, architecture, teaching, and community engagement are encouraged to apply.
Intern Duties
Assist with the planning, teaching, and staffing of summer Student Programs, including The Heritage Project, a three-week intensive for high school students.
Conduct preliminary research, resource gathering, and community networking on behalf of a special fall campaign focused on the role historic preservation plays in relation to affordable housing.
Assist with the staffing of the Last Remaining Film Series in June. Schedule will be adjusted for weekend hours.
With staff, research and develop curriculum and programs suitable for 3- to 12-grade students highlighting historically significant buildings/neighborhoods, including but not limited to residency workshops with East L.A. schools and Community Leadership Boot Camp: Next Generation.

Reporting to the Director & Curator (Arts Manager II), the Programs Manager (Arts Manager I) manages site programming for Hollyhock House, Residence A, and the historic landscape in Barnsdall Art Park. In consultation with the Director & Curator, this position develops education programs and interpretive materials to engage diverse audiences in person and virtually. The Programs Manager oversees the work of full- and part-time visitor-services staff as well as recruits, trains, and manages volunteer docents Hollyhock House is a historic house museum and Los Angeles’ only UNESCO World Heritage site. Located at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard in Barnsdall Art Park, it is operated by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.

Working with the Associate Director for Public Engagement and related committees, the Director of Programs creates and implements a range of public and school programs that support the mission of SBTHP and provide access to the historic properties managed by the organization. Oversees recruitment and training of volunteers to support programs and creates related program curriculum materials. Supervises program staff and related volunteers. What We Are Looking For
The Armory is seeking an Evaluation Associate for our Programs department. The Evaluation Associate works closely with the VP of Programs and all the Directors (Studio, Schools, Offsite Community & Exhibitions) to coordinate, collect and organize visitor data for evaluations of education and exhibition programs. The Evaluation Associate works a variable schedule, based on project needs, up to 29 hours a week.
This Evaluation Associate will support Armory Arts-Inspired Youth Program Assessment (INSPO), a grant-funded project, structured over four distinct phases. INSPO project results include new insights into ways to capture youth experiences in the arts; rigorous and nuanced teacher assessment of student performance, which can be used to refine programs that serve historically overlooked communities in our region; an enhanced capacity to measure social emotional learning outcomes; and improved visitor experiences. Success will be measured by greater empowerment for youth who participate in the evaluation in a more joyful and creative experience, giving diverse participants agency in their storytelling. We will also measure the fluency of program staff and teaching artists as they increase their understanding of foundational elements of traditional program evaluation alongside non-traditional arts based evaluation.
The ideal candidate has the following skills:
Responsibilities for this part-time position include, but are not limited to:
Invite, encourage, and recruit Armory visitors and students to participate in evaluation studies, offering incentives when appropriate.
Interact with Armory visitors and students to collect data both independently, and as part of an Evaluation Team.
Administer both traditional surveys on either tablets or paper, keeping detailed logs of survey activities and encouraging visitors and students to participate in non-traditional, creative evaluation strategies.
Flexibility and curiosity to consider non-traditional evaluation tools and methods.
Pilot, implement, and give feedback on evaluation instruments, including surveys, creative evaluation strategies and interview protocols.
Data management; organize and manage all collected data.
Data analysis; analyze traditional and non-traditional data.
Reporting; present data internally to Armory staff and other stakeholders.
This part-time position has the following requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or at least two years of equivalent training or experience.
Experience with or coursework related to methods of social science research. Graduate-level coursework is desirable.
One or more years of experience interacting with visitors or customers in public spaces, informal learning spaces, or with participants in research studies, either as paid staff or as a volunteer, or similar experience.
Experience conducting in-person interviews, in one-on-one or group settings.
Experience engaging participants for research studies or similar outreach activities in another setting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Fluency with Excel or Google Sheets.
Excellent listening, observation, and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
A positive and professional attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to quickly troubleshoot and adapt to unexpected circumstances in the course of performing job duties.
Strong interest in visual arts.
Availability to work weekends and during traditional school holidays.
Fluency in Spanish is desirable.
Compensation
$25/hour up to 29 hours per week. This part-time position is hybrid, grant-funded through August 31, 2026.
