Please join teaching artist Heather Zeiden on Monday, April 13th, from 3pm-4pm for a bookmaking workshop via Zoom for participants ages 7+. Many artists have turned to the form of the book to make and "read" art differently. One such artist is Ed Ruscha. In his artists' book, Every Building on the Sunset Strip, (lagunaartmuseum.org/artist/ed-ruscha/), the artist photographed every building on a street in his city to create his collection of imagery. In this workshop, participants will learn how to make the accordion book structure mainly using items found in their homes. The accordion book is a great structure to display any collection. With the use of ephemera, collage, drawings for image making and written words; participants will add content to their book. Some examples of previously created accordion books will be shown as well. Please see pdf handout for materials that are needed for this project.
